William Denby Peppiatt, MBE (1932-2025)

The Old Ruymians' Club were sad to learn of the recent passing of "Bill" Peppiatt, 92. He was preceeded by his long-term partner, Hazel, a few weeks earlier.

Bill was a long-serving Economics and History teacher at Chatham House and was awarded the MBE at Buckingham Palace by the late Queen, in Her Birthday Honours List, for Services to the Community in 2002. Bill also taught at St Edmund's School, Canterbury and was Chairman of Governors at Upton Junior School, Broadstairs and Chairman of Broadstairs Bowls Tournament. He was a Broadstairs & St Peters Councillor and Mayor in 2010-11.

Bill was a long-standing Chairman of the Thanet Community Health Council, the NHS watchdog and a Broadstairs Councillor.

Bill lived for many years in West Cliff Road, Broadstairs but passed away in Maurice House Broadstairs.

The funeral will be held at St John the Baptist Church, Church Lane, Barham CT4 6PB Friday 7th March at 1:30pm, followed by a private burial for the family. The wake will be held at The Black Robin, Covet Lane, Kingston CT4 6HS. By family request no black to be worn.
